The Jouffreau-Hermann family of Clos de Gamot runs one of the most traditional wine estates in France. Their wine was the house wine of president Pompidou in the 60s, fine elegant no oaky wines to drink direct or keep for decades in a good cellar

Grape variety and soil: 100% Malbec (auxerrois) hand picked of more 130 year old Malbec Vines just grafted after the Phyloxera crisis, 8-12hl/ha Soil, thin Argilo Calcaire layer on limestone rock
Taste: Deep red fruits like cassis and black berries complex and layered. Nice elegant body and good freshness and very vineous, fine strong but elegant tannins, long after taste, when matured truffles, tobacco and chocolate
Wine pairing: Duck, confits or breasts other red meats, game, hard cheeses
Serving Temperature: 16-17 c when matured 18c, big sized red wine glass type Bordeaux. Open 4 hours in advance or decant before serving aging potential: drink now at it’s best from 2025 and keep at least until 2045+
Vinification: Natural vinification soft extraction on Stainless Steel tanks on low temperature, maturation on big oak barrels (foudres) for 18 months, local yeasts low in sulphite <70mg total, alcohol content: 12,5%
Culture: Lutte Raissonnée, no chemicals used
